Short AF Book Review | All The Devils | ARC Received by Netgalley

Hi friends! So today I'm going to be doing a review on "All The Devils" by Catelyn Wilson. This review is going to be short and sweet (like the title suggests) and spoiler free (however there will be the Goodreads synopsis in this and sometimes it can contain spoilers so please keep that in mind!)

"Dark academia meets horror in this YA fantasy series. Perfect for fans of Leigh Bardugo's NINTH HOUSE and Netflix's WEDNESDAY

---

Mourning the sudden death of her sister, Andy Emmerson knows she must come to terms with a life without Violet. But on the day of the funeral Andy is shocked to discover one thing: the person in that casket is not her sister.

Violet is alive.

Convinced her sister's elite boarding school is covering up the truth, Andy enrols at Ravenswood Academy to discover what really happened and find Violet.

The school is as beautiful and haunting as the students within it and Andy learns that it is not just good grades that drives these pupils. Something much darker is at play.

After discovering a cryptic note from her sister, Andy must follow a set of clues to unlock the truth. This will bring her into contact with secret societies, ancient magic, demons and monsters. And a charming senior named Jae Han who has his own reasons for finding out what happened to Violet...

Soon Andy realises the price she must pay to bring her sister home is darker and more dangerous than she ever could have imagined."

I received this book as an ARC from Netgalley, however all opinions are my own.

So the reason I wanted to read this book is because I saw the description of this book on netgalley and being in my fantasy girl era knew that I wanted to read it so I requested the book. Let me tell you this book was a RIDE. First of all the writing in this book is beautiful and the way that Catelyn world builds really puts you into the space without being too overly descriptive. The cast of characters was really diverse and is so refreshing to see. Catelyn made it so easy for us to love and feel empathy the side characters even if they weren't in the book as often as I would have loved them to be (I'm looking at Munia). The start of this book was a little slow but once you push through the first two chapters you really get immersed into the storyline and I found myself really pulled in. The only reason this took me a little longer to read that it normally would is because I wasn't very well last week. However I still wanted to pick it up at every chance I got. I was also not expecting the twists and the turns throughout this book, every single one of them caught me off guard. I'm hoping we get more stories between Andy and Jae and I cannot wait to see what comes next!

My Favourite Characters:

- Munia: In all honesty when we first met Munia I thought she was a little standoffish when in reality she was just mimicking the way Andy was being towards her. I loved how much she cared for Andy even though Andy gave her NOTHING in return and I genuinely wished we got more of her in the story.

- Jae: I adore Jae so much and I loved getting to find out more and more about his character. I cannot wait to see what is next for him.

- Andy: Listen, I know Andy is the main character but she's actually such a badass. I loved her so much.

My Least Favourite Characters

- Luciano: Luciano is an egotistical prick and that's all I've really got to say about him.

- Regina: Is also an egotistical prick but is also really condescending throughout the book.

I gave this book a 5/5 star rating on Goodreads.

This book is going to be released 19th September 2024!
